What is Epiduo Gel used for?
Epiduo Gel was developed by Galderma, a pharmaceutical company that focuses solely on dermatology. It is the only topical acne treatment that does not contain antibiotics. On the other hand, it contains a dosage of 0.1% adapalene and 2.5% benzoyl peroxide. This combination is very effective in the treatment of acne vulgaris, as it helps to get rid of the acne and prevents future outbreaks.
The active substances found in Epiduo Gel
Epiduo Gel contains two effective substances adapalene and benzoyl peroxide. The first one belongs to the group of retinoids and its main purpose is to clean the pores. This process is important in order to stop the inflammation, as well as the build-up of acne.
The other important component of the Gel is benzoyl peroxide, an antimicrobial component, which kills the bacteria that are responsible for acne vulgaris. Moreover, the substance helps in the prevention of future outbreaks.
The unique combination of ingredients ensures a broad-spectrum effect of the acne ointment and the prevention of acne vulgaris in the long-term. Most of the other medications on the market contain only one of those ingredients. Epiduo Gel combines both, since adapalene and benzoyl peroxide have different functions, but work well together. The combination of both ingredients in one acne treatment is not only worthwhile in the long-term but also much more efficient.
How to apply the gel
Use a pea-sized amount of gel and apply it once a day to the affected area. Before applying the acne ointment, you should thoroughly clean your face or other affected areas with water and then let it dry. While applying the acne ointment in a thin layer, stay clear of the lips, eyes and mucous membranes. With the right application, Epiduo Gel can last up to three months. At Apomeds you can get the Epiduo Gel in a 45 g dose.
